This oil is extremely helpful to stop the itch caused by Eczema 3- 4 hours. I used this product already in Europe. I don't use it for baths anymore but I turn the shower water off and put it on my arms and wait. I wash it off after about 5 minutes. It really calms me enough to go to sleep right afterwards but I still creme myself with whatever your skin is happy. It works OK, but has very unpleasant and kind of sharp smell of fragrance. I switched to Aveeno bath oil that is free of fragrance.I have been using Balneum for 16 years. Out of desperation, I have been forced to find it here in the US, and I can't tell you how happy I am to have found it! Balneum is, hands down, the best treatment for eczema and dry skin. You only need a small amount, and the 500 ml bottle will last for months and months. Skin will guaranteed feel soft and smooth. The real reason I buy Balneum is as my usual facial cleanser. For 16 years it has left my face clean and smooth. I tried it after noticing how nicely it worked for my then-baby daughter's eczema. Avens might smell nicer, and I have used it also when I ran out of Balneum. Trust me though, Balneum is more effective. I can't even think of what it smells like, certainly not sharp, maybe a bit vegetable oil-ish, but it does have one downside.Always rinse the bath after using Balneum. It does tend to leave a build up after a few baths. Bottom line, if you have irritated, dry, eczema-prone skin, Balneum works. Also, the bottle will last at least 4 months with regular use, but as I use it for my face, it lasts a year. Great value!Bought this for my children who suffer from really bad dry skin and eczema. Works really well for them when they bath. I have tried other products that just didn't work. My advice for anyone buying any sort of product to test dry skin is to just try it and don't rely on others experience. The reason for this is that everyone's skin is different, so something that might work for me may not work for my children, etc. With any product for eczema it's a case of trial and error. This is possibly the only Bath oil to use if you have very dry skin. I used to get it on prescription from my doctor but no longer (fair enough). It’s very good. Keep the water on the less warm side - as almost tepid as you can. It’s better for dry skin not to Bath or shower in hot or very hot water.I’ve used this for years but now can’t get it on nhs ?? Only effective skin relief from my eczemaPlease make sure you check with you’re dermatologist and ingredients before you buy to make sure it’s safe for you . It is a soya based oil and very effective for me just sad dr won’t give it me now I’m buying itI find Balneum one of the best post-shower emollients there is (and I’ve been through a lot!).I have very dry skin and this hydrated my skin very well (to protect against psoriasis). My son finds this very good but complains it can make him hot (eczema) so it works better for him in the colder months.Highly recommendPrescribed this when I was hospitalised with chronic eczema when I was 21. It's the ONLY thing I can use in the bath. When I have a bad outbreak, I put it neat on my skin & use it as a moisturiser - it stops the itching. Makes the bath VERY oily afterwards - a pain to clean! Life saver though.
